● Vastu Shastra Introduction
Vastu shastra is important for humen being .
From the aesthetic point of view among creation of human beings
Vastushastra is important and high ranked. In fact, Vastushastra is most
charming, amorous and pleasant and it is possessed by its permanent
value and most attractive elements of human civilization.
Its importance has been explained in the Indian civilization
thousand years ago. According to it before ‘constructing our house hotel,
factory, office, clinic, hospital, restaurant, inn or temple etc. we should
know (go through) the five elements and do the construction accordingly
so that one gets PEACE, PROSPERITY & HAPPINESS. These five
elements are as under:
- EARTH 2. WIND 3. LIGHT 4. ENERGY 5. AIR
Our body is made of these five elements and therefore in this
whole process Vastushastra has been very much advantageous.
Many people do not know this but when they come to know about
this they make changes in their houses at the cost of lots of money
according to the advice of the Vastushastri.
Here is our humble attempt to make you know yourself the real
and basic principles as well as all the directions, elements and proper
planning. If necessary after making minor changes and getting natural
gift, get the advantage of PEACE, PROSPERITY & HAPPINESS.
●SHAPE OF THE LAND
The best properties are either square or rectangular. If the plot is
not a perfect rectangle, it is best if at least the southwest and southeast
sides of the land are at 90° angles from one another. The southwest
side of the quadrilateral should definitely not be extended past the
southeast side, even if that means giving away a portion of the plot.
Land that extends past the northeast side of the quadrilateral, however,
brings wealth, happiness, and good name. Land extending on the
northeast side is very good. Extensions on any other side are
inauspicious. Extensions of the northwest side will cause you to lose
money and peace.
If the land is cut in the corner this is not good. If possible the land
to fill in the missing corner should be purchased. If the land is cut short
on the northeast side it is very bad and is not auspicious; do not
purchase it. It is like a headless body.
Round, oval, and triangular plots should be avoided. The house should
not be built in the shape of a diamond, with the corner facing north.
L-shaped plots are also inauspicious and should not be purchased.
●VAASTU FOR KITCHEN
Vaastu for kitchen takes into consideration various things, which
when properly placed, pave way for safety in the kitchen. Some of the
essential determinants considered are: proper location of the kitchen,
direction and placement of doors and windows, placement of cooking
gas, gas cylinder, sink, refrigerator and other electronic gadgets etc.
- The ideal place for the location of kitchen is the southeast corner. An
alternative choice can be the northwest corner of the house.
*As per the Vaastu remedies for kitchen, certain directions, which are
a total no for the construction of the kitchen, are: Northeast, mid-
north, mid-west, southwest mid-south or the center but second place
for the kitchen is the N-W.
The best direction for cooking is facing east, as this direction is
considered to be auspicious. Refrigerator can be placed on the
northwest corner in the kitchen. - While constructing the kitchen, make adequate provision for cross
ventilation.
●VAASTU FOR DRAWING ROOM
The north-west & north-east direction is ideal for the construction of
drawing room.
As per Vaastu for drawing room, it is advisable to keep square or
rectangle shape furniture.
- Southern and western corners of the room are perfect for placing the
furniture. - There should more of open space in the northern and eastern
corners. - The perfect place for placing sofa lies in northwest.
●VAASTU FOR BEDROOM
- The main bedroom should be constructed in the south-west direction.
• While sleeping, make sure that everyone sleeps with his or her head
pointing towards the South corner. North direction should be
completely avoided.
• For constructing the master bedroom, southwest direction is just
perfect.
Square and rectangle shape bedrooms are just perfect for ensuring
peace and prosperity.
●VAASTU FOR DINING ROOM
• The ideal location for the construction of dining room is the West
portion of the house.
- Dining table should not be sticking to the wall. Square or rectangle
shape furniture perfect for the room.
VAASTU FOR CHILDREN ROOM
The ideal direction for constructing children’s room is west. North or
East directions can also be used for constructing kids room.
Vaastu for children room suggests that a married couple should not
use East direction bedroom. There is no problem if an unmarried
child uses that room.
While sleeping head should be in east side.
North-West room is suitable for unmarried girls.
VAASTU FOR PRAYER ROOM
- Room for prayer and meditation is recommended to be in the north-
east corner of the house..
• Deity or image of god should not face the south direction. Ideal
positions are such that you face east or west while praying.
VAASTU FOR BATHROOM & TOILET
• For bathroom construction, the most appropriate location lies in the
eastern west portion of the house.
Bathtub can be placed on the west side.
For Toilet construction, the most appropriate location lies in the west,
North-West, South portion of the house.
Do not construct toilet of a building in North-East, East and South-
West portion.
- The seat of the toilet should face North-South.
STAIRWAYS
Best to build stairways on the southwest, on the south or west
sides of the house.
Do not build stairways on the northeast side, as it will cause loss
of wealth. The staircase should go up from the east to the west or north
to south. Stair should always be in clock-wise direction.
MAIN SWITCH
The junction of electric cables of the house should be in the
South-East corner along with the main switch.
STUDY ROOM
The north-east corner is best for a study room. If the study room
and place of worship room are adjacent then it is considered most
beneficial.
OVER HEAD WATER TANK
It is best to keep it in the North-West, but could be kept in West
also.
UNDER WATER TANK
The right place for underground reservoir or water tank is the
North-East, the place of Eshwar, the God Supreme. The next choice is
East Zone on the Northern side.
TREES
These should not be in the North and East but in South and West
only.
OPEN SPACE
In every plot more open space should be kept in North, East and
North-East than in South and West.
SOME VAASTU TIPS
Bedrooms should be in South and West.
• Placement of mirrors on South and West wall are inauspicious.
While sleeping head should be in South or West but never in North.
• Pooja room should be in North East. All idols and photographs
should be facing East or West.
Toilet seat should be in North-South only. It should not be in East-
West.
*Stairs should always be in clock-wise direction.
Anything underground should be in North or East.
- Big trees should not be grown in North or East. They should be in
South or West side of the house. - Face east while cooking, West is allowed if there is no alternative,
but never face South while cooking. - Doors should open inside the room and not outside.
- The doors should open towards the right hand.
- Bed should not be put under a beam.
- There should not be five corners in the sealing of a room.
No door or windows should be provided on South-West side. - Guest bedroom should be in the North-West area.
